Italia
A rare and compelling artifact of international fashion commerce: an original buyer’s notebook from the 28th Italian Fashion Show, held in Florence, July 18–24, 1964. Handwritten in ink across the official stationery of Valditevere (Florence), Ken Scott (Milan), and Pino Lancetti (Rome), Emilio Pucci (Firenze) the notes document observations of garments, fabrics, and trends for the upcoming season.
The notebook likely belonged to a buyer representing Jordan Marsh Co. or Zwicker/Melanie, noted at the top of the event title page. Included are two vintage 8x10 silver gelatin photographs of runway or posed models from the show circuit, depicting cutting-edge mid-century fashion silhouettes.
This is a rare example of real-time fashion trade documentation at a moment when Italian couture was establishing its international dominance, offering rich research potential for fashion historians, costume designers, and collectors of Italian modernism.
