It was an unusual hijacking by a group of three men, two women and three young children. They commandeered a Delta airliner, flew across the Atlantic and the adults never set foot in the US again, four of them making France their permanent home.

The 1978 trial of Joyce Tillerson, Melvin McNair, Jean McNair, and George Brown in Paris stemmed from their 1972 hijacking of a Delta Air Lines flight to Algiers The hijackers, motivated by racism in the U.S. and the Vietnam War, were members of the Black Panther movement and sought refuge in Algeria.
