One large colour-lithographed counter display on thick card stock, w/ folding cardboard stand on verso, die-cut folding slot for inserting the suntan lotion sample for sale (slight wear), NF copy,  from the library of Jantzen Co. founder John Adam Zehntbauer (1884-1969) who in 1910 had set up the Portland Knitting Co. with Carl Jantzen and C.R. Zehntbauer, later becoming longtime President of the company.

A very scarce original example of Jantzen’s famed crossover campaign to market suntan and sunscreen lotion along with their cosmetics line, together with their famed swimwear. Vargas who had previously created illustrations for their swimwear lines in the 1930’s that blended athleticism, beauty, and modern femininity, in this striking pin-up dispenses with the swimsuit depicting a sun-kissed, blond pin-up model with a carefully positioned translucent sun hat while tanning on a beach.
