First Edition, VG
12mo. 7, [1] pp., printed in red & black, illustrated ads. Colour-illustrated die-cut softcovers in the shape of a Ramos Gin Fizz glass in blue & red, black lettering (minor dustsoiling, shelfwear), still VG.
First edition, thus, of this souvenir cocktail menu from the historic Hotel New Orleans on Canal Street. The Ramos Gin Fizz designed with a creaminess of a Pina Coloda, and originally called the New Orleans Fizz was originally created in 1888 by Henry c. Ramos, a temperance advocate and preacher-bartender, who developed the fizz with cream, milk, orange-flower water and an extreme amount of shaking from 2 to 10 minutes. Later immortalized in New York at the Hotel Roosevelt by Huey P. Long, who while politicking against the New Deal brought along his own bartender to make a Ramos Gin Fizz in 1935. Other cocktails include the Frozen Bandana cocktail, Bayou Swizzle, The Golden Spike, and others. No copies in Worldcat (1 copy of 1947 version at Historic NO LA Collect.).
