Lee’s Summit Missouri, Clayton Studios, 1913, Reap Photo Postcards

Acceptable

Offered is a pair of real photo postcards depicting cowboys from the Con T Kennedy Show. The cowboys are in full western regalia. Chaps, hats, guns, lariats, neckerchief, etc. These two cards were published by the Clayton Studios of Lee’s Summit Missouri. The "Con T. Kennedy Shows" was a premier, large-scale traveling carnival and amusement organization owned by Irish-American showman Con T. Kennedy. In 1913, the organization was a prominent feature on the outdoor entertainment circuit, running large-scale midways at events like the 1913 Alabama State Fair in Birmingham. The Con T. Kennedy Shows were recognized as the largest and best in the outdoor amusement field at the time, frequently relying on a fleet of about 30 double-length railroad cars to move their acts, rides, and exotic exhibitions. In February 1913, Con T. Kennedy was deeply involved in the establishment of the Showmen's League of America, serving on its very first board of governors alongside legends like Buffalo Bill Cody. During their 1913 season, the carnival traveled across the American Midwest and South, hosting everything from a "Piazza of Pleasure" midway with Ferris wheels and equestrian acts to educational displays like stuffed animals and historical exhibits. AZO stamp boxes with notes on the Kennedy Shows. One card has a bent corner and both have some light edge wear. Sold together. See images.
