1890 game board for Game of Round the World with Nellie Bly, McLoughlin Brothers. In 1888 American journalist Nellie Bly (Elizabeth Jane Cochran) circumnavigated the globe in 72 days, emulating the achievement of Phileas Fogg, setting a new world record for the feat. This game board, including vignettes of Jules Verne and his Phileas, as well as a steamship and locomotive, tracks Nellie’s progress over her 72 days back to New York “All Records Broken” (though only briefly). 16”x16” folding in half. [[edges bumped, minor scuffs]
