1878 ticket to the 27th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Advancement of Science in St. Louis. Made out to B.S. Hedrick, and signed by F.B. David standing in for F.W. Putnam, the permanent secretary. Benjamin Sherwood Hedrick (1827-1886) was a chemist and anti-slavery leader who had been dismissed from the University of North Carolina in 1856. He taught at Cooper Union and in 1861 had been appointed Chief Examiner in the Chemical Department of the U.S. Patent Office. From 1872-76 he had been Professor of Chemistry at Georgetown. 5”x3.5” printed by Levison & Blythe in St. Louis.
