British-American artist Peter Hutchinson is recognized as a pioneer in both the land art and narrative art movements. Displacing a venerable landscape tradition from canvas to real space, Hutchinson’s early conceptual artworks document ephemeral interventions he creates with the landscape. Photographs capture his use of such temporal materials as flowers, food and found objects in natural often remote environments like the ocean, mountains and fields.
Once stating that he was “interested in selling people the Brooklyn Bridge or the Eiffel Tower,” early on John Gibson centered the majority of the gallery's direction on finding donors to fund large scale outdoor projects like ones associated with this photomontage.
