c1860-1880 --Velvet-Covered Music Box/ Carte de Visite Photo Album-- Manufacturer unknown. Inside the album are (14) thick gilt-edged leaves holding (26) CDV albumen images of iconic religious paintings-- photos printed by German, Russian and Italian photography studios, c1860s. (there are 26 images out of a maximum of 28). In back of the photo-album is a small celluloid window, to view the Swiss-made music box mechanism.

Unusual and handsome, this music box/ CDV photo album still works after 150 years but needs to be handled with much care. Instructions in English for directions how to use the music box are mounted onto the underside of the album. The velvet cover of the album shows wear; velvet on the backstrip has worn away. CDV slots have been sympathetically repaired. Front and rear album hinges have been repaired.

Overall, in very good condition.
