c1845 (Late Edo Period) --ORIGINAL ARTWORK, INK PAINTINGS of IKEBANA & INSCRIBED MANUSCRIPT-- Japanese manuscript, 50 pp, bright, tight and square. Understandably for its age, the book exhibits early bookworm tunneling.

Ikebana (生け花, "living flowers") ... Japanese for formal display of floral arrangements ... Ikebana is counted as one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement. Dating to the 6th century when floral offerings were made at altars, Ikebana reached its first zenith in the 1500s under the influence of Buddhist tea-masters-- there are now over 1,000 different schools of Ikebana in Japan and abroad.
