France, Unknown, early 20th-century, Staple
Very good
9 1/4” x 12 1/2” homemade album consisting of 30pp of brown craft paper on which early 20th-century decorative art prints are pasted. Tissue papers cover each illustration. No covers, bound with oversized staples. 2 pages torn out, 1 page cut (not on print), and last 2pp are detached; lacking the covers. All prints in excellent condition.
The artists featured in this album are largely unknown, although some signatures indicate works by Guy Arnoux, A.E. Marty, and Paul Balluriau. The artistic styles vary from silhouette, pochoir, art deco, lithograph, and others. The prints are all in excellent condition and most are not digitized elsewhere. Uniting these various beautiful illustrations are French captions often giving titles and always listing a series and number of the illustration. Although the original publication remains unknown, this fabulous item is truly unique.
