Bury, England, R. Haworth, 1809
Good
A possibly unique, pocket-sized 8pp softcover sewn booklet with modest grey wrappers in which the publisher/author enumerates 7 rules governing the parishioners of the Church of Christ in Bury, Lancashire, England, and a ‘Brief Sketch’ of their beliefs. Closes with a lovely illustration that belies the rather dour spiritual outlook described, and the printed signature of the printer. No records of this publisher elsewhere, and the church building itself is long gone. Research suggests it may have been an early Methodist congregation.
Front cover with inscription, “Thos Brayshay”, of whom we were unable to find any record. Moderate wear but no serious damage.
