"... is beautifully situated in the famous "circle of enchantment" in a pine forest near the beach in Pacific Grove". On one side is a large red & black map of the Monterey Peninsula and Vicinity, with identified points of interest. A second, smaller map titled "Map of Roosevelt Highway between Monterey and San Luis Obispo. These early California travel brochures are a wealth of information about the early days the state. This one reveals that what is now the Pacific Coast Highway or Highway 1 was originally called the Roosevelt Highway, particularly the coastal route between Los Angeles and Oregon. It was named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt and was part of a larger vision of a scenic coastal road along the Pacific. Includes brief descriptions of the Cottage Court, Climate, What to Do, What to See, the New Coast Road and points of interest.
