San Francisco, William Doxey, 1898, Full leather
Beautiful tooled leather Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, with binding signed “C? Battagli—Firenze—Made in Italy” on the back. Published by William Doxey at the Sign of the Lark in San Francisco, copyright 1898. With marbled endpapers, a Beach “Tout en Bonne Heure (Everything in Good Time)” gilt bookplate, and a custom folding box. Doxey also published The Lark magazine and operated a bookstore on Market Street. Usually his books were in cloth bindings.
Leather with some edge wear and light scuffing as shown. Interior very good with age toning. Inscription on blank rear endpaper. Box with edge wear and a little splitting as shown.
