8 San Francisco Newspapers on the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges and the 1939 World’s Fair

Set of eight historic newspapers related to the building of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge, and how they were tied into the 1939 International Golden Gate Exposition held in that city. The papers, which include the San Francisco Chronicle, Examiner, News, and The Call Bulletin, start from Nov 12, 1936 and culminate in the Feb 15^th, 1939 World’s Fair Edition. The Bay Bridge was completed in Nov, 1936 after three years and the Golden Gate Bridge was completed in April, 1937 after 4 years, so the bridges were of great interest to city residents during this period. The 1939-1940 Golden Gate Exposition in part celebrated the completion of these historic bridges.

The archive includes many large images related to the bridge and expo, some in color, as well as detailed content. Overall in good condition with age toning, and some with edge or fold-line wear and tear.
