Item Details

1971

Here is a collection of original issues of Bookplates in the News, a newsletter of the American Society of Bookplate Collectors and Designers, edited by Audrey Spencer Arellanes. The 8 1/2" x 11" newsletters are filled with tipped-in bookplates (ex-libris) and their stories, and are housed in a fold-over portfolio. Included are issues #4-31 (April 1971-January 1978), with #27 missing. Also included is a mailing list and Index for issues #27-30 (1977). Early issues are 4 pages, usually with two bookplates, while later issues are up to 12 pages with 5-6 plates. Some (~ 1/8th) of the plates are printed rather than tipped in, perhaps when originals were not available or they ran out during the print run. Many of the plates are in color and/or embossed. Two additional loose plates are included, labeled "1" and "2" on the back.

These are the actual loose newsletters, not the Gale Research book in which they were reprinted. In fine condition except for one bookplate missing in Issue #16 and one appears re-tipped in with slight glue rippling at top.
