[Chicago], [Kaufmann and Fabry], 1934, Full leather
Very good
Folio album (14" x 11"), with 49 leaves of sulfur-toned gelatin silver prints, with pencilled captions. This special souvenir album of original photographic prints was prepared by Kaufmann and Fabry, the official photographers of the exposition, and a firm noted for architecural photography. "This edition consists of two hundred and fifty-seven copies printed on photographic paper from the official negatives made by Kaufmann and Fabry, and are autographed by the president and the general manager of A Century of Progress in recognition of this splendid pictorial records of the exposition. This copy is number 5." A library card pocket is glued inside the first leaf, but no library is identified, and the only other marking is a pencilled call number; the library card indicates this volume was never checked out. An extremely handsome production on an exhibition of importance to architecture and the Art Deco movement. Full leather, with gilt ruling. Spine and front hinged professionally restored.
