Every Night, Josephine! Sixth printing (1965) of Susann’s comedic memoir about life with her pampered French poodle, Josephine. Published by Bernard Geis Associates, distributed by Random House. Octavo, original boards, jacket priced $3.95. Very good in very good dust jacket with minor edgewear and light rubbing. Inscribed in bold red ink on the front endpaper: “Dear Hilda – I know that from ‘doggy heaven’ Josephine is watching (wishes us luck) and is so delighted that you want her book. Love, Jacqueline Susann 3/6/70.” A charming copy of the author’s first published book, predating Valley of the Dolls.
WITH:
D.V. by Diana Vreeland (Alfred A. Knopf, 1984), first edition, boldly initialed “DV” on the half-title in teal marker. Dust jacket with minor shelf wear, near fine overall.
Striking signed pairing—Susann, the best-selling author of Valley of the Dolls, and Vreeland, the iconic fashion editor of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar—each bringing their eccentric charm to the page. A collectible duo of pop-cultural signatures from women who shaped midcentury media, glamour, and personality.
