Jean Lartéguy (1920-2011) was a French writer ad journalist.

The Praetorians follows Lartéguy’s highly successful Les Centurions (1960). Also set during the Algerian War, the novel follows a group of French paratroopers in Algiers in May 1958.

A veteran of the Second World War, Lartéguy became a highly celebrated war correspondent, drawing heavily from his firsthand observations of the Indochina War, the Korean War, and the Algerian War to write his novels.

Hardcover in very good condition (ownership inscription on front pastedown) in an unclipped dust jacket in good-plus condition (minor adhesive tape residue at the head of the spine).
