1880s J. Herig Furniture Factory Cleveland Ohio Print

Oversized litho greatly detailing the campus of the Herig furniture empire. The lumber mill, “Ware Rooms”, factory and finishing / upholstery departments occupied the streets of 9th, Woodland Avenue & Scoval.

 

Horse drawn delivery wagons, trolley cars, shoppers, salesmen & even men atop the milled lumber — every tiny window seemingly decorated w/ another bit of advertising.

 

Little is known about Sinz & Fausel, for a firm capable of this scale printing, other than a recorded Lake Side Ohio accompanying print from 1883/4 (held in the LOC archives) and another of the town of Garrettsville.

 

Long ago trimmed to it’s graphic line (17.5 x 24.5”) to presumably cheat the many creases and tears — now stabilized. Given the contents rarity, this seems a worthy candidate for restoration.
