Armor is displayed w/ Institution of Civil Engineers Certificate which suggests this is the work of a British engineer documenting his prizes from time spent in Japan, a likely circumstance during the late Victorian / Meiji period.
Other (11) 3 x 4” photographs inventory antique tsubas, including identified makers Mitsunaga, Naoyoshi & possibly Hamano Seidziu (?).
5.25 x 6.25” bound album is complete w/ minimal edge wear and weak spine. Original mat pages exhibit consistent toning, ghosts inside covers w/ minimal foxing.
Tissue guards have kept the images almost entirely free of foxing. Images are not pasted.
