First edition hardcover sales catalogue from Sotheby Parke Bernet, Inc. for the October 18, 1973 sale of the Scull collection of abstract expressionist and pop art.  Dustjacket has small tear at lower right. Otherwise fine condition.  Color and black and white reproductions of fifty works, with two fold-out plates.  Presale estimates sheet and photocopied sheet showing prices realized laid in. The sale included works by Lee Bontecou, John Chamberlain, Dan Christensen, Willem de Kooning, Walter De Maria, Jim Dine, Mark di Suvero, Philip Guston, Robert Indiana, Jasper Johns, Franz Kline, Robert Morris, Barnett Newman, Claes Oldenburg, Larry Poons, Robert Rauschenberg, Larry Rivers, James Rosenquist, Lucas Samaras, George Segal, Frank Stella , Ernest Trova, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, and Peter Young. The total proceeds from the sale, $2.2 million, was unprecedented and effectively launched a skyrocketing market for contemporary art.
