1. Printed business card with the name 'Gyula Halasz/Redacteur'; his associations with Romanian, Austrian and German publications; and his Paris address '64, Avenue du Maine XIV' and phone number printed on card. This is Brassai's earliest Paris business card.
2. Printed business card with the name 'Gyula Halasz' and address '74, rue de la Glacière, XIIIe' and phone number. Signed in pencil on front of card; a signed note in pencil in Hungarian to Lajos Tihanyi which reads 'My dear Lajos, Unfortunately, the situation is unchanged, which is to say that it did not improve. If possible, I will come tomorrow. Hugs, Gyula' on the reverse of the card. [Lajos Tihanyi was a Hungarian born painter who lived in Paris.]
3. Printed business card with the name 'Brassai' and his '81, rue du Faubourg Saint Jacques' address; a signed note in pencil in French to Tihanyi on the reverse of the card.
The provenance for all three cards is photographer Ervin Marton. Like Brassai and Tihanyi (to whom he was related by marriage) he emigrated from Hungary to Paris, becoming part of the artistic circle of Hungarian emigrés living there.
