Basis for a number of silent films, stage adaptations and, loosely, the 1994 movie "A Simple Twist of Fate" -- starring Steve Martin (who wrote the screenplay), Gabriel Byrne, Catherine O'Hara and Stephen Baldwin. Rebound without the ads by Zaehnsdorf in quarter brown leather with leather corners and marbled paper sides; spine with 2 raised bands, gilt lettering, and delicate gilt ornamentation; top edge gilt. Large, attractive bookplate of Mary Crake by "T.W.H." to front pastedown. Very good to near fine.
