The tale of siblings Tom and Maggie Tulliver of Dorlcote Mill on the River Floss. 8vo full polished mottled calf with gilt-stamped decorative borders and elaborately stamped gilt-decorated spine, corners and turn-ins; top edges gilt; marbled endpapers; double ribbon place markers; half-titles present in each volume, and original cloth covers and spines bound in at rear of each volume (Carter's binding "A"). First printing or issue without ad leaf in Vol. I and with 16-page catalog at rear of Vol. III advertising 7th edition of ADAM BEDE, as called for [Baker & Ross A5.1.a]. Housed together in matching leather-backed slipcase with triple rounded spine and separate cloth-covered chemises for each volume. Slipcase showing repairs and moderate wear including chipping to one label (of six). Books are quite fine.
