This is an assortment of documents pertaining to the Tidewater Oil and Gas Corporation of Richmond, Virginia. Included is stock certificate #1003 for 100 shares purchased for $100 by Farmville's tobacco mogul W.G. Dunnington. The certificate lithographer is Reinach & Schwartz, Richmond, VA. A very interesting 2-page letter on illustrated letterhead dated December 11, 1916, from the Company Secretary H.T. Lyttleton which conveys insight into the company's operations and interesting geologic results.

• Refers to the Fork Well, a few miles from Fork Station on the Tidewater and Western Railroad in Cumberland County and "being delighted to find about fifty feet of perfect chocolate shale in the first 100 feet...We expect to reach the producing sands at a depth of about 800 feet in this well."
• Just started the Johr Well "and our experts tell us we should reach a gushing oil of the finest quality at a depth of about 500 feet and hope to be completed by Christmas."
• Reveals the Company has more than 50,000 acres leased with more being approved.
