"THE GOLDSMITH OF NOME," by Sam C Dunham. A collection of poems focusing on the Alaskan frontier. Published in 1901 by Neale Publishing Company in Washington DC. First edition signed and inscribed. "To Chas. Norden with sincere regards of Sam C. Dunham who used to "ab" in Eureka ages and ages ago. Russ House, San Francisco, Cal., March 21. 1902." Dunham was in the Klondike on assignments with the Department of Labor and also worked on the Twelfth United States Census. We surmise the reference to Eureka would be Eureka, Nevada, another western mining boom town.
