Typical 19th century trade card advertisement extolling the virtues of "Clinching Screw Fastened" shoes. "Soldiers prefer them to all others and miners will have nothing else."  The best in every respect for man, woman and child!"

Advertised as the only "Fastening" awarded a medal and diploma at the great centennial international exhibition of 1876 in Philadelphia.
