Typed Letter Signed from Eddie Albert to Mrs. Sherwood Anderson, January 1957

Letter measures 10 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches. Folded. Verso is blank. Slight toning to top edge. On Eddie Albert printed letterhead. Very good condition.

Typed letter to Mrs. Sherwood Anderson (Eleanor Gladys Copenhaver) from actor Eddie Albert. Written apparently in response to Anderson complimenting Albert in his role in G.E. Theater's TV show "I'm a Fool". "It was a pleasure to be working with such superb writing".

Eddie Albert was a prolific actor appearing in hundreds of roles in TV, movies and in various plays.

Eleanor Gladys Copenhaver was Sherwood Anderson's 4th (and last) wife. She spent over 40 years working as an organizer, activist and community service worker for the YWCA.

The letter concludes with Albert remarking, "I had the occasion recently to read a dramatization of "Winesburg, Ohio"....Found it very exciting and hope something comes of it."  We find no record of Albert ever playing a role in Sherwood Anderson's "Winesburg, Ohio."
