A wonderful archive of letters related to missionary and educator Elizabeth Darling Ballantine.  It includes 40 letters from the early to mid-1800s.  Ballantine was a student of Mary Lyon's at Mount Holyoke graduated in the 1830s.  She served as a missionary in India from 1835 to 1870 and operated a girls boarding school, she introduced education innovations in India.  There are 10 letters from her as a missionary.  There are 17 letters written from friends and family about local and family matters in Amherst, Massachusetts.  There are 13 items related to her father, Joshua Darling.  There is great content throughout.  It is guaranteed original and in good condition.
