Original 1928 panoramic photograph, 10 x 47 ½. “Performers at the Canadian National Exhibition, Golden Jubilee, 1928. Numerous and varied performers are posed along the street, many of which are in costume.
In 1928, the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) celebrated its Golden Jubilee, marking the 50th anniversary of the fair. This year also saw the opening of a new Electrical and Engineering Building, just west of the Princes' Gates. The CNE has always been a major event in Toronto, attracting millions of visitors annually and showcasing Canadian commercial and technological innovations, along with entertainment. It was established in 1879 as a modest agricultural and industrial exhibition and has expanded to an annual fair that attracts over one and a half million persons during its two-and-a-half week run.
Exhibits strong tonality and contras, image is appealing ( I don’t think my photographs have done it justice). Like many panoramic images, this came rolled, and though there a few edges and a small edge tear (rt side), the paper is still rather flexible. I have tried to photo those condition issues, but none are distracting.
