Unusual political theme cartes de visite by Canadian photographer Charles R Clark. It seems to discuss the two sides of a situation. Seeing it in the dark and in the light. You might interpret a situation differently on your view of the government. The larger text is called the Bug Bear. Charles R. Clark was likely the first to establish a studio in 1864 as noted in Dun’s Mercantile listing that year. He was also a grocer. In 1880, Clark took on a younger photographer named Robert Sharp Bowness as a partner, and the business now becoming known as Clark and Bowness, so this is prior to that partnership.
