First publication. 1925. Super rare inscribed copy. This was one of the first works to show quality illustrations of the rodeo. Illustrations in color and black and white. *Simpson was destined for a military career, but a riding accident ended his chances. Instead, he turned to art. In 1913 he married fellow artist Ruth Alison. She ran an artist school while Simpson exhibited landscapes and sporting paintings. Many of his hunting paintings were reproduced in Country Life magazine. In 1924 he attended the rodeo held at Wembley. The landmark 1920s rodeo at Wembley took place in the summer of 1924, when the First International Rodeo was held at the British Empire Exhibition. Managed by promoter Tex Austin, it featured over 200 cowboys, cowgirls, and livestock, bringing the American Wild West to London for a spectacular multi-week event. After the rodeo, Simpson produced this book, El Rodeo.  9 ¼” x 11 ½” and 174 pages. Inscribed in pen to Mr. & Mrs. Stanhope Forbes on the ffep. Forbes was known as the Father of the Newlyn Art Colony. Bumped corners with a few bent pages under them. The reminder of the book has some mild general wear and remains quite clean.
