Leather bound notebook  7" by 4 1/2"   90pp. Binding and several pages loose and a couple excised. 

Of English or Welsh origin; no explicit ownership marks but with an address of Commercial Street, Newport. The first section comprises of veterinary notes on anatomy and diseases in alphabetical order and dated between 1827 and 1828. Several entries refer to veterinary authorities such as "Samuel Goodworth Vet'y College July15 1827" and "J. Haugh vet'ry college July 24, 1827" Mostly equine medicine with some mention of dogs.

Likely used as field notes whilst making visits. Later entries describe some veterinary work done, recipes for treatments and some accounting. The book has been inverted and "started at both ends" as it were.
