1923 drilling for water in Assam: 32 photographs (4 captioned) documenting wells drilled in Silchar (Cachar District) in the Brahmaputra valley for rice and tea plantations. Well 2 at Massimpur (“Test” and “after the big flow: note the derrick where it is most torn down”). “The Rotary well at Masimpujr, note the electric light wires remaining to my bungalow Fromm the well, and Mr. Sprague’s Bungalow at the right. I am in charge of this well. Also note the godown in front.” Views after the fire at Well No. 3, showing wreckage. Also views of pulling pipe as well as rigging jobs.
