Group of four children's books published by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, known in Farsi (Persian) as Kanoon. Kanoon was established in 1965, spearheaded by support from then Queen and Empress Fara Diba. It came to unite in the late 1960s and early 1970s leading figures of Iranian art and literature in a "quasi-utopian" atmosphere. These books are from that period. All have English-language promotional materials laid in.  The first title is in wrappers, the others are hard-bound in laminated boards.

Daddy Snowman. Written by Jabbar Baghtcheban. Illustrated by Alain Bailhache. 1970. Wrappers. The author,  Jabbar Baghtcheban (1886-1966), was an educator who was especially concerned with childood education, especially of the deaf.  The English-language promotional material states that he finsihed this story the night that he died.

Howard, Coralie. What Do You Want to Know? Translated by A. Nourian. Illustrated by Nafiseh Riahi. 1973. The original text was published by Simon and Schuster in 1968.

Nedayetpour, Fereidoun. The City of Snakes. Illustrated by Farshid Mesghali. Besides the promotional material, a full English trnalsation is laid in.

Majaabi, Jaavad. The Blue-Eyed Boy. Illustrated by Farshid Mesghali. 1973.

Farshid Mesgali (born in 1943) left Iran in 1979 and since 1986 has lived in California. He is the sujbect of a detailed entry in Wikipedia. Alain Bailhache was a French illustrator who taught at the Faculty of  Fine Arts in Tehran for many years. A retrospective of his work took place there in 2006.  Naifseh Riahi (1943-2000) was an artist, animator and illustrator.

Please note. We did a special list on our website largely devoted to Iran. We have a number of books in Farsi, mainly of a literary nature, that we did not catalog. We would be happy to place them in the hands of someone who could make use of them. Kindly place an inquiry if interested.
