An admirable collection that presents nicely
1930s. --American Boxing Scrapbooks-- Vintage lot of (3) Scrapbooks of newspaper materials culled from 1930s Philadelphia Inquirer-- individually bound, each approx. 12"x13". A canny look back at the golden age in American Boxing-- 1930s newspaper clippings of fighters, gossip about society people, and the many fans who revere and enjoy the sport of boxing. An admirable collection that presents nicely. Scrapbook pages are toned and some have separated from the binding.
Fighter Joe Louis was apparently a favorite of the scrapbook maker, but this guy covers the American boxing scene quite liberally-- his scrapbook includes articles and photos of many fighters, from Braddock, Haynes, Baer & Carnera. There are a smattering of news articles about popular celebrities, politics & current events of the 1930s-- stories about Mussolini and war in Ethiopia, the death of Will Rogers, the 1930s presidential election.
