New Orleans, LA, 1904
Beautiful Rex (King of Carnival) Mardi Gras Ball admission card from 1904 in excellent condition. The admission or admit card was presented at the door in order to get into the private, prestigious ball in New Orleans. The card is personalized to Mrs. Jonathan E Wilkin, and is marked Costume de Rigueur at the bottom, which meant a dress code of strict formal attire. For ladies, this would be a floor-length evening gown. The admit card was different for each year and is quite scarce and collectible.
Measures just 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches, and in very good condition with a little toning on the back.
