This portfolio contains color bullfighting lithographs by Spanish painter Antonio Carnicero, originally from Spain in the late 1700s; this a high-quality set printed in Mexico--one of an edition of 5000 published by Offset Villar y Trillas, 24 July 1962. According to the information on the portfolio (in Spanish and English), “the most important of all in the pictorial history of this (bullfighting) specialty is, beyond any doubt, the Coleccion de Las Principales Suerte de Una Corrida de Toros of Antonio Carnicero”. They are each about 9 1/2” x 12 ½” and beautifully printed on thick stock with an impressed plate mark, in bold colors.
The set is complete with 12 numbered lithos plus an introductory one, all in very good condition. The portfolio has light wear/creasing and is signed “Rafael Villar” inside.
