Very good

This letter, written by Samuel Walter Taylor, Jr., the editor and publisher of The Rider and Driver equestrian journal, penned this letter on October 4, 1893, upon that magazine's letterhead, which featured an illustration of a Tally-Ho coach racing down a roadway as a field of riders in fox-hunting livery chased after a pack of dogs in the background. It is enclosed in a mailing envelope addressed to Oyster Bay, Long Island.  In nice shape.

In the letter, Taylor retracted an earlier assessment of Count Theodore Ismailoff, a Russian nobleman and army captain who managed the stud horses of the Imperial Russian Court. At the time of this letter, Ismailoff was in the United States to exhibit a stable of imperial stallions at the Chicago World's Fair.  Taylor's letter reads in part:

"I wish to take back what I said about Capt Ismailoff. . .. I no doubt misjudged him. . .."

The Rider and Driver is responsible for the term, "tally-ho," entering American culture. In 1893, it published a history of the Tally-Ho coach, the first style of fast public coaches to ride upon American roadways. Throughout the early and mid-1890s, the magazine also covered the ever-increasing trend of horsewomen to ride astride rather than side-saddle. Although it was generally supportive of the change, the journal could not refrain from publishing several satirically humorous pieces about the topic, including a page of caricatures titled "Costumes for the Park and Road," which featured non-traditional women riders, including a central figure resembling Susan B. Anthony.
