A six panel panorama 5 3/4 x 45 5/8 inches in size of vintage silver prints (each print 5 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches), joined at the edges with the original black tape.  Annotated 'P.S. Hunt, / Panorama of Anchorage Waterfront and Railway Yards from Christensen Road, May, 1917 /  ‘A.E.C [Alaska Engineering Company]  / ‘G-507-8-9-10-11-12’ on first panel.

Located just north of modern downtown Anchorage, Ship's Creek Landing began as a tent city and construction camp in 1915 and quickly grew into the city of Anchorage, Alaska. In 1914 after two bankrupted attempts to build a railroad in Alaska, Congress authorized President Woodrow Wilson  to “locate, construct and operate” a railroad from the Gulf of Alaska into the interior as far as Fairbanks. The Alaska Engineering Commission was formed to supervise construction of the railroad as well as the construction of a port  at Ships Creek Landing.
