Richmond, VA, William MacFarlane, 1838, Softcover
Very good.
This is an original report of a convergence of Virginia Presbyterians in Farmville in 1838. Looks like some real muck raking, disgruntled Presbyterian red meat as they are meeting to express disapproval of the reforms of 1837 and 1838 General Assemblies and determine what to do about it. A list of attendees is included and concludes 36 pages later with their adopted resolutions including disapproval of language that frowns upon slavery saying that it is exercised within the laws of this State and bristled at the thought of assemblies in other States imposing any anti-slavery dogma. Printed by W.M. MacFarlane of Richmond, Virginia in 1838. Prior owner's name on cover "P.E. Stevenson of Staunton, VA."
A light pink paper cover sewn pamphlet, 5 3/8" x 7", 36 pages, amazing condition for its age.
